I Need Your Opinion!!!!

Hi Girls/Ladies

I often start my blog posts with the greeting......"Ladies"
Now I am thinking about changing that to "Girls"
I thought that as women over fifty we deserved the respect to be addressed as ladies.  We ARE ladies.  Aren't we?!? Then I started to think that we are all girls!  We just so happened to become over fifty.  We are still the girls from high school, just a little older!
What is your opinion ???  As a woman over fifty do you like to be referred to as a lady or a girl or you couldn't care less?
Please let me know what you think.........thanks!!!

  1. I like "ladies" it's a bit playful and ironic...for a while I rejected the term...but it's time to reclaim it in the spirit of Jane Austen's strong willed heroines who stand their ground wiith perfect manners

  2. Thank you ParisAgain for your comment. I too had rejected the term ( thought that it did not sound young enough)....but I love your point of view and yes we should be proud to be called "ladies!"

  3. Ladies is more refined. Girls sounds young. Playful yes, but it also makes me think of the way that men used to label women as "girls" in the office and it does not denote being taken seriously.

  4. Ladies IS more refined. You are right! And yes you are also right about the office thing. Sometimes I like being called a lady, but I think that I will always just feel like a girl! And I never like being called Ma'am. That really makes me feel old!........Origin of Ma'am.......
"Madam, or madame, is a polite form of address for women, often contracted to "ma'am". The abbreviation is "Mme" and the plural is mesdames. The term was borrowed from the French madame, which means "my lady"." Wikipedia
