Things that make you age faster

1. Smoking

Smoking is number one on this list.  It can cause so many diseases.  In addition to being a deadly habit smoking can also make you look older.  Smoking can activate enzymes that break down the elasticity of your skin.  Another thing I noticed with people that smoke excessively is that their voices get deeper and they develop a smoker's cough that is not at all attractive.  Don't smoke!!!

2. Crash Dieting

Crash dieting is an energy sapper which can make you tired, depressed and grumpy.  Crash dieting is also not good for your skin.  It can cause wrinkles and sagging.  Losing one or two pounds a week is the best way to lose weight.

3. Not Getting Enough Sleep

It is so important to get seven or eight hours a night.  (I wish I could, I don't sleep that great.)  Not getting enough sleep can keep you from functioning well during the day. If you are having sleep issues talk to your doctor.  You might have a sleep disorder.

4. Skipping Fruits and Veggies

Eating right is key to feeling good and having healthy skin with less wrinkles.  It is so important to eat fruits and veggies.  Fish and fiber from whole grains is also  a must.

5. Holding on to Grudges

Holding grudges is not good for your health.  (It is hard for me to let go of a grudge.....I am trying to learn how.)  Forgiving may add years to your life.  Studies have shown that forgiveness leads to better physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.  Benefits include lower blood pressure, less depression, less stress, and less anxiety.

6. Carrying Around Stress

Nothing can make you feel or act older like mental decline. Studies show that letting go of stress can help you avoid cognitive impairment and keep your mind young.  It is not always easy to get rid of stress.  If you try relaxation techniques such as meditation or exercise you might be able to cope better.

7. Becoming a Couch Potato

It is so easy to become a couch potato especially in the colder weather.  Ladies, try your hardest not to.  Exercise is so important for your health, both physically and mentally.  And another reason to exercise is to stay strong and prevent injury.  Keep moving!

8. Drinking Alcohol

Drinking alcohol may not be good for you at all.  We are told that a glass or two a day is okay.  But it may not be.  Check with your doctor especially if you take any medications that might not mix well with alcohol.
