Dr. Seuss quotes

I know that we all remember "Dr. Seuss."   What was your favorite?   "Green Eggs and Ham" and "The Cat in the Hat" were favorites of mine!  What great books!  Following are some quotes by Dr Seuss.  They really say a lot.  And after you read them click here to visit "Seussville."

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.
Dr. Seuss
Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.
Dr. Seuss
From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.
Dr. Seuss
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
Dr. Seuss
Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way.
Dr. Seuss
If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.
Dr. Seuss
I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent.
Dr. Seuss
So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.
Dr. Seuss
And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed.
Dr. Seuss
Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.

  1. I tried to upload Are You My Mother? which I decided was my favorite. Cannot figure out how to post pix to this site. Considering my relationship with mom it's a well thought out choice. It's been awhile since I read it so I may have to get a copy. BTW, I would not like this in an e reader. Did you know some of his books were the subject of criticism? I remember reading that the classic Hat in the Cat book is bad for kids b/c it encourages them to be "bad" when no one is watching! IMAGINE! Love the quotes you selected. Another blog I can relate to.Keep them coming, Elyse. Thanks so much.

  2. Hi Ann,
I didn't know that some of the Dr. Seuss books were the subject of criticism. Why can't they just be enjoyed as classic children's books? As always thank you for your comments. Elyse
