Do you have a mantra?

Good morning,
Having a daily mantra (or affirmation) is a great way to start the day.  It can set the tone for your day.  It can make a good day great.  And if you are having a tough day it can help you get through it.  Research has found that mantras really do work.  You just have to change that negative thought into a positive one.  The minute that negative thought starts to creep in....say your mantra.....and banish that bad thought!!
You can pick a new mantra every day.  There are so many. A mantra that helps one person de-stress might not be good for another.  You have to find the one that feels right for you.
Here are just a few.........

"Don't Worry, Be Happy"

p.s. when my daughter was a toddler she would walk around saying "Don't Worry, Be Happy" but she could only say..... "Don't worr, be hap" .....
p.s.s.  here are some more mantras on Pinterest

Jason Lee and his unbelievable photography!

Jason Lee is a wedding photographer.  He also photographs his two adorable daughters in the most creative ways.  In 2006 Jason Lee's mother was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.  Since his mom was not well and his daughters always had the common childhood colds or sore throats he could not always bring them to visit their grandmother.  So he started a blog to document the girls in photos for his mom to see.
I don't know how he does it but these photos are amazing!

Video posted by Dove.

This very powerful video was posted on Youtube by Dove.  Dove did a study on how women view themselves as opposed to how others see them.  As part of the study each woman would pair up with another participant and get to know them.  A retired forensic artist from the San Jose police department, who never met the woman, asked them questions about their looks as he sketched them.  He was behind a curtain and unable to see them.  He then asked the person that the subject got to know to describe the woman's  looks.  It's amazing to see how we perceive our looks as opposed to how others see us.

"Women are their own worst beauty critics," Dove says. "Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful ... we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see."

Living in a Boeing 727 - One awesome grandmother!!

Talk about creativity.  Joanne Ussary paid $2,000 for a used Boeing 727.  It cost $4,000 to move the plane and $24,000 to renovate.  Joanne Ussary, is a grandmother from Mississippi.  She lost her house in an ice storm in 1994 and decided to change things up a bit when she purchased her new home.  With the prices of houses this is clearly an amazing investment!  Look how pretty!  What an amazing view she has!  I wonder what the taxes are!  Would you consider living in a home like this?

Aging gracefully.....Who inspires you?

Betty White is one of  my favorite ladies over fifty.  If anyone can show us how to age gracefully it is definitely her!  She is 91 years young and beautiful!   Betty White says:  "Dreading aging is really a waste of a lovely life."  Who inspires you??

p.s. I also know many "non celeb" women that I admire very, very much!  I hope to be able to post about them one day.

Eat, Pray, Love.

Julia Robert's character in the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" needed to find herself.  She was lucky enough to have the luxury of taking a year off and traveling to try and figure things out in her life.
If you could pick three places like she did.....what would be your "Eat", "Pray", and "Love"??????  I haven't traveled much at all so I can only guess what would be the perfect places to go to "meditate." Since I haven't traveled much I do think that just getting away must be a wonderful thing to help see things more clearly.  What do you think?  Have you traveled much?  Do you come back from a vacation with a different outlook?  Do you feel energized?  Would you want to go away for a year?  I honestly don't think that going away for a year is practical.

I can definitely see Italy as being my "EAT" place.
I think that I would taste each and every pasta dish!!!!!! Yum!!!!!!

I would love to go to Israel as my "PRAY."
I have never been to Israel but I just know that it must feel so welcoming and warm.  The perfect place to pray!!!!!

I'm still thinking about my "LOVE" place.
(any suggestions??)

Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

Last weekend I went with my daughter to Kitchen Kabaret, in East Hills for lunch.  Kitchen Kabaret is a gourmet food market that has the largest array of delectable dishes.  There is something for everyone!  From sushi to smoothies.  They have it all!
When we were waiting for our lunch my daughter took notice of a very stylish woman.  Her hair was pulled tight and she was wearing a fedora.  The woman was wearing jeans with funky patches on them.  She also was wearing big beautiful rings on her fingers.   I did glance over to her for a second and thought that she looked familiar.
Anyway, while we were eating our lunch we saw a group of young girls surrounding this woman and talking to her.  At that point my daughter realized that it was Cyndi Lauper!.....standing at the coffee counter.  I had to walk over.  Ms. Lauper was signing autographs for the girls on napkins.  They were kind enough to hand me a napkin and "the pen" that was being passed around and I too received an autograph from the amazing Cyndi Lauper.  Not only did I receive her autograph, we had the nicest conversation.  She was so friendly and sweet!  I would love to have coffee with her!
So there we were, in Kitchen Kabaret in East Hills  having a great conversation with the incomparable Cyndi Lauper.  You never know who you are going to meet when you wake up in the morning!!!

This is my autographed napkin!

And here is Cyndi Lauper!

p.s. the Mom in the video is Cyndi's real mother, brother and dog!!!!
p.s.s. we didn't think it would be right to ask to take a pic with her.  We did take a few from a distance but she just looks like a dot so I am not posting them.
p.s.s.s.  read more about Cyndi Lauper here.
