The bride, the maid of honor and me!

Happy Monday!
How did you like the cold weather this weekend?  Saturday was a mess here in New York.  We had the first snow of the season.   The sun was beautiful on Sunday but still too cold for me.  I am a summer person!
Today I am going for my yearly mammo-sono.  Needless to say I get a little nervous.   And then after today I will make an appointment for my breast mri which I have put off for more than two years.
In the meanwhile I wanted to post a happy pic of the bride, the maid of honor and me!

Have a warm and toasty weekend!

I think it is going to be a cold weekend here in New York.  So keep warm!  Maybe a movie this weekend?  Any good movies around?   There is always  a mani-pedi.  There are a lot of salons that are offering one hour foot massages for fifteen dollars.  That is a great deal!  And then there is always good old shopping!  Maybe Sunday we can get outdoors and enjoy the fall weather.  Have a great weekend!

We have to wish a lady over fifty a happy birthday.  Lady Liberty is 125 years old today!!!!

A rainy day

This is today in NYC.  At least it is not freezing out!

I came across this fabulous print of NYC on a rainy day by William Schneider.

Heart Health

No one wants to think that they could have a heart attack.  But it can happen.  If you carry aspirin with you,  you can save your life!

  • Exactly what dose of aspirin should you take?
    • At the onset of heart attack symptoms, you should call 911 and chew one 325 milligram (regular strength) aspirin or four baby aspirin.

  • What symptoms should you watch out for?
    • When a man has heart attack symptoms most times it is a crushing pain in the chest and down the arm.  When a woman has heart attack symptoms they are not so obvious.  They can be as subtle as feeling extreme exhaustion, nausea, indigestion or discomfort between the shoulder blades.  By the time women get to the emergency room, it’s often too late. That’s why carrying aspirin with you as a woman is doubly important.

  • What exactly is the aspirin doing?
    • It’s thinning your blood, so that any clots or blockages can pass.  (This is the lifesaving action)

  •  Ladies,
I came across this site that sells a holder for you to always have some aspirins with you.   Visit http://www.aspirinpod.com/ to see what the aspirinpod is all about.

    Health Tips

Experts say that the number one tip to not getting the flu is to get the flu vaccine!

Boost your virus protection even more.

Being outdoors is a key to staying healthy.  When you are in a confined area indoors it is a breeding ground for germs.  Also if you are outdoors you tend to exercise (walk) which will boost your immune system.

Getting enough sleep is important to fight germs.  Lack of sleep can challenge your immune system.

Washing hands is necessary to avoid germs.
Keep your fingers away from your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible.
Lather for a good 20 seconds and dry hands well.  Damp hands can spread bacteria more easily than dry ones.

Relaxation is essential to staying healthy.  Stress will increase your risk of catching a cold or flu.

    Donate for a cure!

In support of breast cancer awareness month my daughter and I went to our local hair salon and got pink hair extensions.

    Pink hair shows you care!

We also purchased this great umbrella at Bloomingdales.  The umbrella is $12.00 and $4.00 goes to breast cancer research!

In-home luxury in New York City

As busy ladies we don't always have time to go to the salon to have our hair colored or cut.  Wouldn't it be great to have someone come to our home to make us beautiful. The only things that we would be giving up are  receptionists that are too busy to talk to us, a crowded salon and sitting there with dye on our heads.
Enter Mykel!!!  Mykel of Mykel and company has been in the industry for 30 years.  He has worked for all the top Madison Avenue salons in NYC such as  Peter Cappola, Oribe and Pierre Michel.  Now he is cutting through the phoniness and bringing his expertise to you on a personal level. At the end of the day or at the beginning when you just want a little pampering Mykel will come to you.  Mykel is someone who REALLY LISTENS to you and what you want done to your hair.
Mykel has been on the popular wedding show "Bridezilla."  Mykel does wedding parties.    Click here to see the celebs he has worked with.  Mykel travels between Boca, Palm Beach and NYC.  He is available for out of town parties.  Free consultation.  Visit Mykel's website here .
