Covid and Hair Loss

I had Covid in January.  It was not fun.  I had a fever for days with an excruciating headache and the worst congested cough for weeks, etc.

I've always had a full head of hair.  In fact when I was a child my father would thin my hair with a thinning scissor because it was so thick that I would get these huge knots by the back of my head.

Well then Covid happened.  I have another whole blog post to write about what I believe happened to me from the first two Pfizer vaccines.   Never had the boosters.   That's another blogpost to write.  So Covid happened and over the following months my hair started falling out.  I had a lot of hair to start with so it wasn't that noticeable.  but my hair continued to thin and I began to notice that my part was widening and I saw more of my scalp.  My hair was everywhere.   So of course I wasn't happy about this.  I did start using a great product called Toppik.  Toppik are fibers that you sprinkle onto the thinning part of your scalp and voila! it's filled in.  It works like magic!  It's a great product but with that being said I don't want to have to use this product.  I want my hair to stop shedding and my thinning areas to grow back. I want my thick head of hair back!

There are so many products for thinning hair.  There are special shampoos and conditioners, scalp serums, and supplements.  Im already on my third brand of shampoo and can't decide if it is doing anything.  I tried one hair serum so far and it was so greasy.  I hated it.  I also ordered a hair supplement and it was so big that I couldn't swallow it.  It was a capsule so you could open it and put the powder in a drink or food.  The dose is four capsules a day.  You cannot imagine the amount of powder in four capsules.   Not happening!

So the search goes on.  I have been researching for days and days.  And the more you research the more products appear to confuse you.  I came across a supplement that I have never heard of  called Weem.  It sounds amazing!  But who are writing these reviews?  The company's family.  Weem states that you will start to see regrowth in fourteen days!  Well that's a little hard to believe but crazy things can happen!  So sign me up!  But Weem?  Funny name.  What about Sugar Bear gummies?  Weem is a gummy too!  I think I am going to do a gummy unless someone tells me of a small pill to swallow that is amazing.  Looking in CVS I also saw one called Olly.  Online I saw a supplement called Hair La Vie which sounded pretty good.

And what about a hair and scalp serum.  One of my clients told me that Harklinikken extract is great.  She said it worked for her.  Some people use Minoxidil but I do not want to.  Minoxidil can have side effects.  I read that Rosemary Oil is just as potent as minoxidil but natural so that sounds better to me.  And the special shampoos?  Every day another new one is posted on Instagram.  Pura d'orAvalon Organics, Jason Biotin Shampoo, Vegamour.   Even though I never heard of it I'm leaning towards the Weem supplement gummies and also the Harklinikken extract for the scalp.   I have three different brands of shampoo in my shower.  What I do know is that the shampoo should be Sulfate free and I would think that it should contain some amount of Biotin.

I think that I'm going with Weem and Harklinikkin!  I also think that I have to be a little bit more proactive where my hair is concerned.  And that means also eating a healthier diet!

What hair treatments and supplements have you tried?  Please let me know. Have you had any luck with them?  With so very many out there on the market I am so curious to know which products that you chose!

I saw this product on the shelf at Target yesterday.  It sounds good! A scalp treatment!

This is my array of products in my shower

P.S.   Do you think that your hair thinning was the result of having Covid?
